Public speaking award in 1989

In elementary school, I quickly learned that I loved being on stage. In grade four, I won an award for public speaking for a speech I wrote called “Ice Fishing Adventures”, a highlight of which was the description of a mysterious legged creature I caught which baffled the adults with whom I was fishing. I later learned that it was likely a “mud puppy”.
